The “Houston-Galveston Area 10,000,000 Mile Rideshare Challenge” is the largest ridesharing event in
the nation, involving thousands of area commuters sharing over 275,000 rides resulting in 10,000,000 fewer miles driven and the
prevention of more than 4,000 tons of automobile emissions!
The Houston-Galveston Area Rideshare Challenge was announced on January 23, 2008 by Harris County Judge Ed
Emmett, Houston Mayor Bill White and other area officials (view press release).
The event is also supported by the Houston-Galveston Area Council and dozens of local
and national sponsors who are providing valuable rewards to participating commuters to thank them for doing their part to clear the roads
and clean the air for all of us!
